Née en France en février 1965, Sylvie Barbaroux passa ses dix premières années en Provence. De novembre 1975 à décembre 1982, elle s'expatria avec ses parents à Tripoli en Libye, pays qui l'initia à l'archéologie et l'imprégna de l'Orient. Depuis ce vécu à la frontière égyptienne et les cours d'Histoire en classe de 6ème, elle devint passionnée par l'Egypte. Il lui fallut patienter de longues années avant d'assouvir son rêve : découvrir la Terre des Pharaons. Dès son premier périple, l'Egypte l'envoûta. Elle parcourut, alors, ce pays durant dix ans, loin des sentiers touristiques et seule, en totale liberté. Dès lors, face à l'Egypte d'hier et d'aujourd'hui, elle prit la plume et se découvrit une nouvelle passion, l'écriture.
